Where have all the boats gone…?
Empty docks and the girls escaped from the office…Not often you see this sight at Conch Charters!
With the threat of two storms at the end of August tracking straight towards us, it was all hands on deck to get the boats packed safely away into Paraquita Bay, the ‘hurricane hole’. Sorry if we missed your call!
We were very fortunate in the end as both passed way south of us. Although Erika, a tropical storm, did bring some strong gusts overnight and much needed rain!

While dredging in Road Harbour as part of the cruise ship expansion project a 13 foot rare anchor was discovered believed to be from the the Napoleonic era!
Based on the design, it is thought to have belonged to an HMS ship around 150 – 200ft! It would have taken several strong crew around an hour and a half to pull it up, walking around a huge spool…really makes you appreciate an electric windlass!
For the BVI this is a fantastic find! At the moment the plan is to get it back in the water as soon as possible to help preserve it, after that the future is yet to be determined…
