In these unprecedented times, a new summer craze sweeps the world…
When you need a tan, you need a tan! Am I right?
BVI News
The BVI Government has permitted us to go to the beach and be on the water from 8am – 7pm. There are restricted area’s to protect the borders. We are still under curfew from 12am – 5am every night.
We in the BVI are fortunate (sort of) that our lengthy lockdowns and serious shut down measures bore results. We now have no reported cases! We still keep up social distancing and the motto at every business is “no mask no service”. Only the Willy T is open on the water. It’s tough, but we will make the best of it.
You might say the BVI has “Covid 9.5” right now! 😂
We know you are missing the BVI. We thought we would entertain you with some of our favorite Caribbean phrases and expressions.
“Mi soon come”
Your taxi driver might have said this to you, means literally: I’ll be right there. However if you’re told mi soon come, don’t be fooled. Island time is much slower than the rest of the world…
“New broom sweeps clean but de ole broom know de corners”
This BVI expression is used to show the importance of experience. Like Conch Charters, with over 30 years experience in bareboating the BVI, we sure know every corner.
“Mash up”
This phrase means damage or destroy. It’s what happens to you after one too many painkillers from Cynthia at Harris’ Place in JVD.
“Padnership is a leaky ship”
Many of you folk running your own business might recognize this phrase instantly.
“Gone to come back”
Ever tried to find a BVI official? The person answering the phone may have uttered this phrase to you. Meaning they don’t really know when they left and don’t have a clue when they will be back, apart from knowing they will return sometime for sure. Giving you the caller a shed load of useful information!
Just like the missing person, all of our past customers like you have just…
