Swimmers and SUP participants made their way up to North Sound on Virgin Gorda on June 1st to test their skills in the annual fundraising event 'Swim the Sound'. The race starts at Saba Rock and consists of two routes, 2 or 3 miles, finishing at Leverick Bay. There is also a 2.5 mile course for all Stand up Paddleboard entries. All proceeds go to Virgin Islands Search and rescue.
The surprise entry this year was 'Biltong' the dog. He is the first dog to join in on the fun and swam alongside his owner with his ball in his mouth all the way to the end in only 1hour 35 minutes. Well Done Boy!
The Beneteau 473 is definitely a blue water sailing yacht with sleek lines and excellent performance. With 3 double cabins 6 people can live aboard very comfortably.
In addition to three generously sized double cabins and three heads, the Beneteau 473 has above average headroom especially in the salon making the Beneteau 473 a great choice for sailors above average height.
The main salon is perfect for entertaining and dining. Excellent storage in the galley makes provisioning for the crew easy and of course includes refrigeration, stove top coffee percolator and kettle. It can accommodate head and sous chefs at the same time! Although very well ventilated there are electric fans in each area.
There are twin helms which allow excellent visibility and ease of handling in a roomy cockpit suitable for all the crew to experience the exhilaration of a perfect sail. Of course you can all just chill or dine there under the bimini for a little shade from the Caribbean sun.
The fully battened main sail equipped with lazy jacks and stack pack with a roller furling jib are ergonomically designed for performance as she cuts through the water.
An electric windlass makes for easy anchoring.
All in all a monohull designed for performance and comfort.
