Happy New Year
From Conch Charters
We hope you all had a great Festive Season and have started making your plans for this year’s holidays.
The BVI’s welcomed the New Year in style as per usual with fireworks at Trellis Bay and live music all around the islands including the world renowned Foxys. The quiet and slow start to January 1st is always a great testament to a good send off to 2014.
Conch Charters has a new addition to its team this year. We would like to introduce you to Ian, our newby in the office. Ian has spent 18 years in the islands and has oodles of information to offer you.
So, that being said… Its a New Year… time to get yourself down to the British Virgin Islands mon!
Captain Conch’s Law of the Sea!
Ever since man made a dug out canoe, it has happened that as soon as he made it big enough for two people, he started having crew problems! The trick is… always have plenty of Conch’s Conch-coction to pass around!
Conch’s Activity of the Month
Cooper Island Beach Club is based in Manchioneel Bay on Cooper Island and is home to some of the most beautiful snorkeling and marine life around the islands, not to mention an awesome sunset!
Sail Caribbean Divers has a satellite station located next to the boutique for your watersports pleasure.
After a day of water and play, the next step is to sample some of the restaurant’s amazing cuisine. Their international and Caribbean style menu includes their home grown produce to enhance real Caribbean flavours. I highly recommend the ‘Homemade Conch Fritters’, they are yummy!

In contrast to BVI’s normal mountainous volcanic islands, Anegada is comprised of coral and limestone fringed by miles of white sand beaches with over 300 known wrecks.
The only real anchorage is near Pomato Point. What is the hotel there that is famous for its amazing lobster dinner?
The Cyclades range by Beneteau were designed for the charter industry but is an excellent inexpensive and great value option for any type of cruising.
The interior is very spacious and the wide beam is carried aft to the stern. This allows for two roomy aft cabins.
Headroom is 6’6″ throughout the cabins and saloon.
This model offers three double cabins and three heads.
The V berth forward also has a small settee and locker area. The showers share the space with the head area.
The practical portside galley has a strove, refrigeration and ample work surfaces for two chefs to work side by side.
The all wood chart table and seat is beautifully designed with the control panel, VHF and stereo to hand.
Twin helms with the master helm on the portside make the Cyclades 43 comfortable to sail and give easy access to the swim platform with boarding ladder and shower. The cockpit has room for six crew to sit in comfort for outside dining, there is a charcoal BBQ if you prefer to grill al fresco. You have plenty of shade from the bimini over the cockpit.
Battened main sail with lazy jacks and stack pack, the genoa is roller furling.
This yacht has been recently hauled 1st April 2014 thru hulls replaced and freshly painted with antifouling, inspected by a marine surveyor.
