I am Conch Charter’s in-house crewed charter specialist. I live in Tortola in the BVI and know many of the yachts and crew that I recommend personally. I attend boat shows to keep up to date on the latest with yachts and give you the best recommendations. If I’m not at my desk, you will probably find me on a yacht. I have been to the best anchorages, drank at the fun bars, and enjoyed delicious meals at the island’s favourite restaurants. I am excited to help you plan your all-inclusive charter vacation in the Virgin Islands.

Find your charter type

BAREBOAT WITH SKIPPER

With this option, you will charter a bareboat and hire a captain to sail her for you. On top of the captain’s daily rate, you will have to pay expenses such as nightly mooring fee, fuel for trip; buy provisions for food/drink, meals ashore, water toys, permits etc. You will also be responsible for onboard cooking and cleaning.

This is a perfect choice for adventure lovers looking to explore a new destination but don’t want to sail. It is also a more economical way to explore beautiful destinations.

CREWED ALL-INCLUSIVE

With this option, you will charter a yacht with a professional captain and chef. The charter rate includes your crew, all meals prepared to your individual preferences and an open bar. Also include in the rate is mooring fee, fuel, water toys, permits etc.

You don’t have to take responsibility for the yacht, docking, anchoring, provisions, cooking meals, cleaning, or paying attention when sailing or motoring.

This is a perfect choice if you are looking to sit back, relax and enjoy all that the islands have to offer.

General

“All Inclusive” means the charter rate includes the yacht, Captain, Chef, all meals, snacks, open bar, use of all toys and amenities listed for that yacht, fuel, water, moorings, ice.

Not included are your airfare, ferry and taxi to the yacht, gratuity (15-20% is common), island trips and drinks or meals ashore.

If you like to experience local cuisine while on charter, take advantage of half-board option that many yachts offer. Typically on a 7 night charter, you will eat 3 lunches and 2 dinners ashore for a small reduction in charter rate.

No. The cost of the yacht will be the same regardless of whether you book through a broker or directly with the yacht. Speak to your broker about last-minute charter discounts.

Christmas and New Year’s weeks have a minimum of 7 nights and a 10% (or more) premium on the daily rate. Half-board options and captain-only options, which normally are offered for any other week, are in general not offered during these 2 Holiday weeks.

Most crewed yachts offer charters of 4-5 nights. 4- and 5-night charters have a 16.7% surcharge on the daily rate, so 6-night charters are better value for money.

It is customary to tip your crew at the end of your charter. Tips are scalable depending on the level of service received - between 15-20% is suggested.

Make a Booking

Once you have reviewed all the yacht options and selected your charter, I will place a courtesy hold on the yacht for your dates and send you a charter agreement via DocuSign. You will have 7 days to e-sign the charter agreement and place the deposit. This will confirm your charter booking to paradise.

We accept payment by ACH, Wire Transfer, and Credit Card (MasterCard or Visa). We will cover your fees if you use ACH or Wire Transfer. 3% convenience charge apply to credit card transactions.

Typically, deposits are 50% of the charter fee, with balance due 45 days before charter starts. If you book over a year from departure, deposit is 25% the charter fee, with second payment due 6 months from departure and final payment due 45 days before departure.

Once you have picked your yacht, we will place a courtesy hold for your dates to lock it in. Hold is not confirmed bookings and can be challenged. If a hold you have on a yacht is challenged, you have 48h to place the deposit and return a signed contract.

We can place a challenge when the yacht you like has a hold for the dates you like to book. If the other party fail to place a deposit within 48H the reservation goes to you.

Once your charter is booked it is non-transferable and non-refundable. If you – the Charterer – initiate cancellation, you will receive no refund. If the yacht rebooks the same dates, you will receive a partial refund. Please speak to yacht broker about cancellation terms.

Regardless of the time of year you travel, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your trip.

Your Charter

Yes, you can. In the current climate of COVID testing, yachts are offering cruising itineraries in their home port. That is, BVI yachts offer BVI itinerary and USVI yachts offer USVI itinerary. Some yachts are cleared for both territories and can offer either itinerary. Please note, USVI pick up for BVI sailing is currently not possible.

Charters run from noon to noon. You can start and end on any day of the week. If your flight arrives later than noon, you can board the yacht at that later time, but you can also decide to arrive a day before your charter and stay in a nice hotel or resort. This enables you to start your charter the following day at noon, rested and refreshed. We can assist by recommending hotels and resorts for your first night or more nights before and after your charter.

Your crew will discuss with you the daily itinerary that will suit your wishes, at the beginning of the charter and every morning. The itinerary will be based on your party’s mood and the weather conditions. Your itinerary is not set in stone and can be changed to your preferences. The itinerary is weather depending as the strength and direction of the wind and the swells can make a sailing route or an anchorage less preferable.

Typical day of drinking on a yacht looks like beers or wine with lunch, mixed drinks or beers or hard seltzer during the day, wine with drinks and light after-dinner liqueurs. While the definition of excessive alcohol is loose, this is a good rule of thumb - if consuming alcohol becomes the sole purpose of the holiday and the person drinking becomes a risk and creates safety issue, then the captain may step in. You are expected to consume alcohol to the extent where you are still in control of yourself and do not become a liability to the yacht.

Most yachts allow smoking on the transom or areas designated by the Captain. Some yachts are completely smoke-free. Please speak to yacht broker about your smoking preferences.
