The Leopard 44 is an innovative design. With an open forward cockpit you get a good breeze throughout the whole boat while you are relaxing on a mooring ball with a cocktail in one of the beautiful bays in the BVI.
Helios is the Owners version of this superb catamaran. She has 3 cabins and 3 heads with the starboard side dedicated to the owners suite. It features a good size cabin, sofa, chart table and very large shower room with electric head and plenty of storage space.
The port forward cabin has a large double berth plus a small single bunk that is in the very V of the hull. It does not have a door or a separate external entrance so is only suitable for a small child sharing with parents.
There is an L- shaped galley to port fitted with a stainless steel refrigerator with drawer opening compartments, a stove with oven and 3 burners. The work surfaces are heat -resistant Corian.
The spacious and comfortable saloon has large windows with doors to both the forward and aft cockpits.
A unique feature of the Leopard 44 is the open forward cockpit with direct access from the saloon. It is an ideal shady spot to sit and relax with a cocktail, or play a game of cards.
The main aft cockpit has a raised helm station for enhanced visibility plus it leaves all of the space in the cockpit for relaxing, doing a BBQ or eating a meal. Both the forward and aft cockpits are covered with a continuous hard top bimini.
There is a swim platform at the back of the boat with boarding ladder on the port side. It is easy to anchor in the beautiful bays of the BVI with an electric windlass. To help you raise the fully battened main there is an electric winch at the helm station. All lines are led aft to the helm including the furling line for the jib,
All of the cabins are fitted with fans to keep you cool at night or if you prefer you have air conditioning with a generator.

We had a great week on Helios. We were pleased to find that the berths were very spacious. This was my first catamaran to captain, and my first marina docking, which was stern-to into a single-wide slip. Nailed it on the first try in a 10k cross-wind. That just doesn't often happen in my Pearson 31 monohull. We did use the generator/ac at night, but we really could have done without it, because the natural ventilation throughout the vessel is remarkable, especially when the forward cockpit door is opened. The two electric winches, along with the auto-pilot, make sail handling a breeze. The electric davit was great as well, and the Yamaha motor started on the first pull every time. As for Conch Charters, and their staff; I can't see how any other charter company or group of people could have done a better job. From the booking to the paperwork to the pre and post checklists, everything was relaxed, friendly and real. We arrived after dark on Sunday night, and the fact that The Pub Restaurant is located at their marina was a welcomed surprise for our group. The restaurant sits at the water's edge next to their office, which was only a 2 minute walk from Helios, our 2012 Leopard 44 Charter. We sat on their patio overlooking the water. The fish and chips were really well prepared, and they make a good Painkiller! Cheers To Irene, Kirst, Myk, Ross and the whole gang at Conch Charters for making our first trip to the BVI a tremendous success! - Skipper Greg P.S We could have done without Tropical Storm Bertha, but what the heck, "if anything's gonna happen, it's gonna happen out there, right boss?" - Captain Ron.Greg Hathorn Sunday, 10th August 2014
I've chartered with many companies and Conch Charters is the best...and the most friendly. The 44 Leopard is a dream to handle and a strong sailing vessel. Our group of 6 had a memorable sailing week. Thanks to Irene, Ross and Mandy.Bob Gontram Wednesday, 24th April 2013
