August 2008
The first visitors to the Virgin Islands were the "Amerindian Tribe" they canoed up from Venezuala and settled by surviving on hunting and fishing. Next was Columbus on his second voyage 1493. He saw so many islands he named them "Las Once Mil Las Virgines" after the legendary St Ursula and the 11000 virgins. Next were the Dutch settling on the western end of Tortola in the mid 17th Century later supplanted by the brits who annexed us in with the Leeward Islands.
The Amerindian Indians checked out the beaches. Chris took a peak and the Dutch planted there wooden shoes and stayed a while so why not you! think its your time to return and check out this amazing sleepy backwater of the British Empire. "Best Sailing in the WORLD"
